The presentation will include an introduction to the FMLA and cover the following topics: Employer Coverage, Employee Eligibility, Qualifying Leave Reasons, Employer Responsibilities, Records Required, Employee Responsibility and well as other FMLA topics. Participants should come prepared to ask their most tricky FMLA questions.

Miguel Perez started his Wage and Hour Division career in 2009 as a bilingual Wage and Hour Investigator in the Asheville North Carolina Field Office before moving to the Raleigh District Office in 2015. He currently serves as the Community Outreach and Resource Planning Specialist and is responsible in assisting, planning and developing a wide range of activities including stakeholder’s engagement, training and outreach events.
The US DOL Wage and Hour Division oversee some of the most comprehensive Federal labor laws in the country including: the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) which covers minimum wage, overtime, child labor protections and record keeping requirements for most employers in the United States, the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act (MSPA) for the protection of farm workers and their families, the Immigration and Nationality Act which includes H-2A provisions for temporary alien non-immigrant agricultural workers, the H-2B provisions for temporary non-agricultural jobs, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and many other federal labor laws.
