Navigating FMLA: Fresh Insights for HR in 2026

This interactive training will provide attendees with a foundational understanding of the complex rules of FMLA and how they interact with the rapidly expanding number of leave types that employers are being forced to juggle; including Short Term Disability, Worker’s Compensation, State Specific Leaves, the ADAAA and more. Attendees will learn how to apply best practices for handling employee absences while avoiding common FMLA legal landmines.

Ian Lawrence graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a
Bachelor of Arts in Political Science following six years and multiple deployments as a
Sergeant in the Marine Corps. He then spent the past 14 years working in Employer Group
Benefits and Insurance including multiple roles in operations, client service, and business
development.
During that time, Ian developed a deep understanding of Disability, FMLA, ADAAA, and
other Employer Leave Plans, and how these programs affect employers’ internal people
operations and cultures.
